Marion County Clerk Becomes First in Florida to Complete Identity Theft Protection Project

ORLANDO, Fla. (November 14, 2005) - Computing System Innovations (CSI), a leading provider of enterprise records management, workflow, and imaging software, today announced the Marion County Clerk of Courts as the first Florida Clerk's office to successfully complete a redaction project within the State. The project focused on removing sensitive information, under FSS 119.07, from current records using CSI's automated redaction technology, IntelliDact™ which provides automated redaction and indexing functionality for both official records and court documents. Using IntelliDact's advanced grid processing and NewVision's direct repository connector, Marion County was able to process and redact private information from seven million pages of official records in less than seven weeks.

Under Florida's current public records law, public citizens are responsible to request that private information be removed or redacted from public documents. But on January 1, 2007, the weight will shift to the offices of the clerk of court. At this point, the Clerk of Court will have to ensure that social security, credit/debit card, and bank account numbers are exempt or confidential under the state of Florida's open record laws.

CSI provided Marion County with a complete business solution for automating the redaction of private information from both official record and court images, in addition to paper documents located throughout the Clerk's offices. Marion County also makes use of IntelliDact to locate and extract unstructured data, which is then used to automate the manual data entry processes of their existing core business applications.

"CSI presented an integrated and efficient approach to dealing with redaction, the imaging of paper documents, and the automatic indexing of information," said David Ellspermann, Marion County Clerk of the Circuit Court. "This solution not only ensures that we meet the redaction requirements issued by the State of Florida, and that we protect the private information of the citizens, but also positively impacts the productivity of our internal resources."

"We are excited about Marion County being the first to cross the finish line with their use of IntelliDact. IntelliDact was designed from the ground up to provide a total solution for redaction and extraction of information, whether the data exists in digital, paper, or microfilm formats. I am pleased that IntelliDact's innovative design provides customer benefits that go far beyond just redaction. For example, our enabling of full text search of image content is both a first in our industry and a tremendous benefit to users," said Henry Sal, President of CSI.
