UNIX Performance Products: Directory File ManagementDFM (Directory File Management) consists of file management and display utilities. These tools use the video display terminal (VDT) screen as a window within which you can move the cursor to quickly perform file operations: - dfm
- Displays a menu of files and directories. Using the cursor to select menu items, you can use a single keystroke to perform file and directory operations such as displaying, deleting, or editing a file, or displaying the files in a subdirectory. The show and tx utilities are the default utilities used by the dfm program to display and edit files. If you wish to use another editor or show-file utility with dfm, you assign the appropriate value to the SHOW or EDIT environment variables.
- tx
- Screen-oriented text editor that uses function keys for such operations as blocking text to be moved or deleted, or finding and replacing strings. You can use the editor's default key assignments for function and other keys, or you can reassign key functions or names.
- show
- Displays the contents of an ASCII file and allows you to use function or arrow keys to scroll forward and backward, line by line or screen by screen. You can use a single keystroke to perform other operations such as finding a string, displaying line numbers, or displaying the beginning or end of a file.
