I8rebuild is designed to quickly and easily rebuild new MicroFocus COBOL I8 formatted indexed files. Since I8rebuild uses the existing file space as its work area, the rebuilding operation will be performed without requiring any additional disk space. Once the rebuild has completed, the file is usually smaller and often dramatically smaller. The rebuilding is performed using advanced sorting algorithms and so is faster than existing methods. I8rebuild is also designed to be easy to use.

If the indexed file is corrupt, I8rebuild will identify the corrupted area of the file and repair it. All of the data records that are still accessible will be recovered.

I8rebuild does not work on the old MicroFocus COBOL I8 format that required multiple Unix files to create a file of larger than 2 gigabytes. If you require a solution for the older I8 format, please contact CSI.
